Qusi Alqarqaz

Electrical engineer, Consultant, and Writer

Hey there!

I'm an electrical engineer, engineering manager, and consultant - basically I get to play with power systems and solve cool problems. Over my career, I've managed over 200 power projects in the US, UAE, and Qatar.

I've successfully "herded" many power distribution projects, ranging from little 120V circuits all the way up to the big 138kV boys. Yup, I've wrangled everything from simple outlets to massive substation projects across 3 different countries. That's a lot of paperwork, site visits, and arguing with contractors let me tell you.

Recently, I relocated to work on planning a 33kV oil and gas electric power system. Basically, I get to make sure the rigs and pipelines have reliable electricity, which is no easy feat in the desert! My expertise is in making power systems work as smoothly as possible, with a focus on protection and controls.

And as a senior member of IEEE (the giant international electrical/electronics engineers club), I get to share my know-how by writing articles and leading initiatives for my local group. It's a great way for me to give back to the industry.

Outside of the day job, I also help people and organizations with all sorts of things - leadership, productivity, process improvement, engineering, and more. So if you ever want to chat about how I can help, just let me know! I'm always happy to connect!

I recommend Qusi as a writer and editor on technical and management topics in fields related to electrical engineering. He volunteered to initiate a series of historical articles and biographical interviews for the IEEE Systems Council. Creating articles that appeal to human interest to supplement the news and technical notices will improve the readership of the newsletter. I appreciate Qusi's willingness to capture the creation stories of the field of systems engineering.
